Find out more about the people, characters and stories that insipre our Dunoon Goes POP.
Join our Dunoon Goes POP discovery walk of the town.
Starting point: POP shop, 28 Hillfoot Street.
Finishing point: Dunoon cemetery with the option of going for tea and cake at Walkers.
This walk brings together some of the Dunoon Goes POP team’s research around the legacy of George Stirling’s soft drinks factory and the plants, flavours and people that help tell the town’s fascinating social history.
Expect smells, pictures and interesting conversations along the way!
Some gentle hills, but it is mainly a flat walk. Wear sensible footwear and dress for the changeable Dunoon weather!
What to expect
Starting at the original George Stirling soft drinks factory, (the bottom of Ferry Brae) this walk will take you up to the High Kirk and Castle Hill to explore the local connections the town has with sugar and slavery, before heading along the high street to learn more about the flavours and characters that inspire a selection of soft drinks.
The walk will finish in Dunoon cemetery with the option of going to Walkers for tea, cake and further conversations about Dunoon Goes POP.
Book your place on our website, tickets from £7.50 to £15.
