In August our natural world is brimming with beautiful colors, enchanting noises and entertaining movement as many plants and animals are at the peak of activity with warmer days. Add in the beauty and serenity of NH’s Great Bay and you have an event you just can’t miss.
Join AARP NH and NH Fish & Game at the Great Bay Discovery Center in Greenland (89 Depot Road) on August 22 (9-10:30 am) for a FREE guided walk focused on healthy living and connecting with nature.
Inside the Center, interactive exhibits highlight estuarine habitats, migratory birds, and salt marsh farming. A touch tank invites visitors to meet fascinating bay creatures like horseshoe crabs up close. Seasonal displays keep things fresh, and the center’s approachable layout makes it ideal for all ages.
Step outside to follow a universally accessible boardwalk that winds through forest, marsh, and shoreline habitats. Along the way, you’ll pass a sensory garden, a reconstructed 19th-century Gundalow boat, and even a Native American camp site, each adding a historical or ecological layer to your visit.
AARP NH volunteers will be on hand with information about healthy living resources and upcoming related events. Don’t forget your sneakers and sunscreen!
