The DePauw Institute of Music’s 140th concert season comes to an exciting close with this collaborative choir and orchestra concert featuring the winners of its annual Concerto Competition. The concerti performances, conducted by Prof. Orcenith Smith, include Vivaldi's Concerto for Bassoon performed by junior Haley Riley, the first movement of the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2 played by sophomore Sakura Kusano, and first movement of Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G performed by senior Saki Nakashima. Ralph Vaughan Williams’s moving Five Mystical Songs for choir, orchestra and soloists—featuring the collective forces of the DePauw Chamber Singers, Vox Animae, and the Putnam County Festival Chorus under the baton of Dr. Bryon Black II—brings the year to a glorious conclusion.
