Since first performing on the stage of the National Arts Centre at 16 years old, Pete Deachman's music has been heard at prominent Folk & Bluegrass festivals, and even on stage at the historic Ryman Auditorium!
As both a solo artist and frontman for Blue Mule and Handsome Molly, Pete has earned many Central Canadian Bluegrass Awards, including: best composer, best guitarist and best overall group.
His original compositions "Current River" and "Norman’s Ride" came in second at a songwriting competition at North Carolina’s Merle Fest, hosted by Doc Watson, one of Pete’s folk heroes. Other influences include Bill Monroe, Woody Guthrie, Rambin' Jack Elliott, John Prine, and Gordon Lightfoot.
What Pete shares with his heroes isn’t just the musical chops, Pete is also a gifted storyteller who captivates listeners from the opening introduction to the closing encore. "A good song is a good story,” he says, “and I've got many!”
