Let's Rock Week: Kids Love Rocks!

Uncover the hidden treasures around you in this hands-on exploration of rocks and minerals!

Rocks and minerals are everywhere — from the ground beneath our feet to the items we use every day. In this engaging workshop, children will explore fascinating specimens from Ontario and beyond, learning how to start their own rock and mineral collection. Through fun, interactive demonstrations, they’ll discover how to identify minerals using their unique properties, like magnetism, color, streak, and hardness. It’s a thrilling adventure into the natural world that will inspire young collectors and budding geologists!

Time: 2:00PM
Cost: General Admission applies ($5/person, ages 5 and under FREE)

Pre-registration is not required. All are welcome! Please bring lawn chairs for seating.

Presenter Bio:

Dr. McLean Trott is a member of the Kingston Lapidary and Mineral Club and has been a geologist since 2005. He has looked for mineral deposits (and collected rocks) from around the world, including South America, Africa, and Eastern Europe. He is passionate about rocks and minerals and eager to share this passion about a wonderful hobby, which in some cases may turn out to be a long and enjoyable career.
