Candles & Cannolis: A Sweet, Hands-On Night Out in Grayslake, Illinois
Romney Brown Candle Company, an award-winning DIY candle-making experience located in downtown Grayslake, is proud to host our second collaborative event with local favorite Tony’s Cannolis: Candles & Cannolis, happening on Friday, July 11th, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
This experience is designed to bring together two forms of creativity—custom candle-making and artisan cannoli crafting—into a fun, relaxing, and delicious evening. Whether you’re planning a unique girls’ night out, a date night with a twist, or looking for something new to do in Lake County, Candles & Cannolis is one of the most unique activities in Illinois this summer.
Guests will start the night by creating a fully customized candle at the Romney Brown Candle Bar. You’ll be guided through our signature candle-making process, choosing from a wide range of fragrances, vessel styles, and color options exclusive to this event. Our staff will help you blend up to three scents to make something personal and unforgettable. This portion of the event takes place first to allow for proper curing time before you leave.
While your candle sets, the second half of the night kicks off with a live cannoli-making demo led by Tony’s Cannolis, a local small business known throughout the Chicago area for their classic Italian desserts. You’ll watch a full demonstration of the cannoli-making process—from dough rolling and shell forming to proper filling techniques. Due to space and safety, the frying portion will be shown via video, but volunteers will be invited to help with hands-on steps during the demonstration.
After the demo, each participant will receive three pre-made cannoli shells to fill themselves with a variety of flavored creams and toppings. You can enjoy them on-site with a drink (available for purchase at the Candle Bar) or take them home in a provided pastry box. All supplies are included.
This is the first event of its kind at Romney Brown Candle Co., and space is limited.
