Gratitude Garden at Veterans Memorial Gardens and Interpretive Centre
Sometimes it is difficult in the memorial space to focus not on what we lost, but what we gained. The lives lost to our families and our communities are irreplaceable. One way to honour the sacrifices made by soldiers and their families is to celebrate with gratitude what we gained by their willingness to fight for what is right.
In this spirit, Veterans Memorial Gardens and Interpretive Centre invites the members of our community to come and add a stone to our Gratitude Garden. Each stone will be selected and decorated under contemplation of the gifts that have been granted to us by the dedication and sacrifice of Canadian Soldiers. Whether it is freedom of speech, or opportunities for education, or feelings of safety, or the privilege of not having to worry about any of that… we have a lot to be grateful for.
On August 10, 2025 - please come and join us in the gardens for your chance to plant your seeds of appreciation in our Gratitude Garden.
There will be rock painting, face painting, music, and fun for the whole family! If you haven’t toured this gem of a museum, now is a great time! Our summer students will also be running education programming for the kids to learn about how animals helped us during war times.
Entry to The Gratitude Garden Event will be donation only, with snacks for sale. The event will be an inauguration of an ongoing fundraiser. After the initial event VMG will sell stones for $10, or bring your own and decorate only for $5. Proceeds will go towards the running of the Veterans Memorial Gardens.
