To Boldly Go Where No Improvisor Has Been Before: An Improv Coop Workshop

Improvisers often stick to familiar scene locations like restaurants, churches (during a funeral or a wedding ceremony), doctor’s offices, generic offices (by the photocopier), the gates of heaven or the fiery pits of hell. Wouldn’t it be fun to break the mold and set your scene in space? Or in medieval times? Or in a cable car suspended between two mountains in the Alps?

The goal of this workshop is to explore new and unconventional scene locations and to expand your improvisational repertoire.

What to expect:

- Learn to build and maintain unique settings

- Draw inspiration from TV, films, and books

- Set scenes in new and unfamiliar places

- Gain confidence in exploring new worlds for your improvisational scenes

By the end of the workshop, you'll have:

- Set scenes in new and unconventional locations whether that’s a space ship, a submarine or a hovel in medieval England.

- Developed skills to create and maintain unique settings

- Become more confident in exploring new worlds for your improvisational scenes

Your teacher, Charlie, performs in two monthly shows at Blackfriars: Looking for Laughs and Squeaky Bum Time. He’s also in the creatively named duo, Mark and Charlie (with fellow improviser, Mark Deas). He trained in improv at The Free Association and Glasgow Improv Theatre and in acting at Rose Bruford Colleage.

Our venue is located next to Queen's Park station, with on-street parking outside (subject to availability). The venue is fully accessible.
