The Black Beacon Trail Race

The Black Beacon Trail Race is a 21 mile mountain race with a challenging 1600m of ascent, but a generous 18.5 hour time limit.

Starting in Brecon, the route heads straight into the national park with an amazing (and steep) climb up the North Ridge of Cribyn before a fast descent takes you into another climb 'Jacobs Ladder' which will take you to the summit of Pen Y Fan, the highest peak in Southern Britain.

After a quick run to Corn Ddu there is another fast descent to cross the A470 and enter the softer, muddier terrain of the 'Fans' with 2 more climbs - Fan Fawr and Fan Llia - completing the big peaks on the route. All that's left is the descent into Ystradfellte and to pick up the forest trails of 'Waterfall Country'. But one more highlight awaits - passing under (you read that correctly) Swgd Yr Eira waterfall before the final mile to the finish and the completion of an amazing adventure.
