Lewis & Clarke / Fursaxa / GSGA at The CO Lab

Love's Devotee & La Société Expéditionnaire present an evening with Lewis & Clarke, Fursaxa and GSGA. All longtime friends and fellow-travelers in the scenes of indie, experimental and folk musics throughout Pennsylvania, we are excited to bring these distinctive artists to Glenside and The CO Lab for a one-off special event.

Lewis & Clarke: Lewis & Clarke is Lou Rogai, American musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and composer. For over two decades, he has crafted a distinctive sound of art-pop/avant-folk, characterized by expanding and contracting songs and lineups. The name references the fellowship and correspondence between C.S. Lewis and Arthur C. Clarke, not the 19th-century explorers. Rogai releases music in a fiercely independent manner on his imprint La Société Expéditionnaire, his approach and philosophy are a result of his involvement in the early 90’s PA DIY punk/hardcore scene.

Fursaxa: After playing in bands like UN with Marcia Bassett (Double Leopards), Tara Burke began her solo project Fursaxa at the turn of the century. Taking a page out of Philadelphia's Ambient Consortium and the Bardo Pond school of acid-folk space exploration, Fursaxa also brings to mind elements of religious music, from church choirs to raga drones. Burke employs guitar, casio, Farfisa organ, accordion, dulcimer, effected vocals, drums, bells, flutes, and the kitchen sink without ever losing her otherworldly focus. —Jason Sigal

GSGA: Goodnight Stars Goodnight Air is the longtime project of David Kresge, who brings together guitar, electronics and effects in ever-changing configurations to produce an unholy synthesis of ambient, experimental and unclassifiable sounds. He has performed with the ensembles Dragon Turtle, We Have Heaven and Soars, and has contributed to a number of releases through the La Société Expéditionnaire label.
