This show is presented in cooperation with the Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture, Inc., the National Park Service, and Montgomery County, MD.
To celebrate Rowan's 50th birthday, we're going to make him play in ALL his bands:
IO : Rowan Corbett and Sharif playing Nine Inch Nails and Tori Amos covers!
The Acacia Sears Band : Rowan Corbett playing percussion for the passionate singer/songwriter stylin's of Acacia Sears!
Tinsmith : the band that was BEFORE ilyAIMY, 21st-century neo-Celtic music from Rowan, Brooke Parkhurst and Henry Cross!
And ilyAIMY : percussive acoustic rock from Baltimore, MD in which Rowan Corbett is 1/3 of the singer/songwriting power, raging and nerding.
For 3 short months, Rowan and I are the same age. It starts in November as Rowan Corbett turns 50 - and since we had such a fantastic celebration of MY fiftieth birthday at Glen Echo in February, we figure returning for Rowan's 50th simply makes sense.
Rowan and I have been performing together for literally half our Lives. Our half-century mark marks a quarter-century of playing together, and we've only grown stronger. To celebrate all these years and our musical relationships, we'll be making Rowan work the WHOLE show. Rowan Corbett (as part of IO) will be opening for Rowan Corbett (as percussionist of the Acacia Sears band), who will be co-billing with Rowan Corbett (banjo, guitar, percussionist and vocalist for Tinsmith) and Rowan Corbett (guitar, percussionist, vocalist and singer/songwriter for ilyAIMY) w special surprise guest, Rowan Corbett!
There are 100 seats available. Get them while you can:

---
Multi-instrumentalist and shameless nerd Rowan Corbett built his musical credentials while touring across the country with Renaissance Festivals and his Celtic / Irish / Progressive rock band Tinsmith, drawing inspiration from Irish, English and Scottish folk tunes, as well as modern Rock and Electronica artists like Ani DiFranco, Kim Thayal of SoundGarden and Portishead. His versatility, creativity and dedicated work ethic have led him to be a coveted performer on djembe, cajon, bodhrán, guitar, plectrum and clawhammer banjo, bouzouki - and most prominently – bones*. This led him to perform with first the Grammy Award-winning Carolina Chocolate Drops and more recently as a member of the (also Grammy Award-winning) Rhiannon Giddens' touring band.
In the Baltimore / Washington DC area Rowan Corbett is also one of the singer/songwriters behind some of the geekiest songs in WAMMIE Award-winning Baltimore-based acoustic grunge act ilyAIMY's repertoire, in which he has performed for the past 25 years. Rowan’s fascination with process, respect for tradition, and joy in the creation of NEW rhythmic and sonic palettes have also led him to join forces both Live and on albums with the Acacia Sears Band, Mosno Al-Moseeki, and The Great Outdoor Fight.
*the bones are not castanets – they’re the whackadee whackadoo things that are often the subject of questions and wtfery at many shows – if he’s waving his arms around and you hear a lotta cool clacking noises, that’s the bones!
