The Alec Dankworth/Roger Beaujolais/Neil Burns Trio
A fantastic night of music from the UK’s top Jazz players Roger Beaujolais (Vibraphone) Neil Burns (Guitar) and Alec Dankworth (Double Bass) A night of jazz not to be missed.
Vibraphonist Roger Beaujolais, known for his long career as a London based jazz musician, he was in the original bands The Chevalier Brothers and Fairground Attraction. Recording multiple albums on vibraphone, Roger has played for Disney, done session work with Robert Plant, Paul Weller and Morrissey, and supported live artists including Nina Simone, Herbie Hancock Trio, Susanne Vega, Garbage, Marianne Faithful and Mike Oldfield among many others.
Double bassist Alec Dankworth needs little introduction, son of Sir John Dankworth and Dame Clio Laine, Alec has had an impressive career as an award-winning jazz bassist and composer who, in addition to leading several groups of his own, has worked with an amazing list of artists including Van Morrison, Stephanne Grappelli, Abdullah Ibrahim, and The Dave Brubeck Quartet. He is known for his energetic stage presence, versatility of style and some of the most imaginative bass solos around!
Scottish Guitarist Neil Burns is a friend of the club and brought his Quintet featuring trumpeter Steve Waternam to the club last year for an amazing night of music. Neil has been immersed in the south west jazz scene for many years and has accompanied many top players on tours in the region. A guitarist steeped in the jazz guitar tradition with a funky, bluesy, bebop style heavily influenced by the great “Grant Green”.
