Join storyteller Michael Loader for some FREE peaty tales from the length and breadth of these isles.
Squelch through the will-o’-the-wyke bog lands of Lincolnshire to save the Moon from the creeping horrors; hear overhead, the swooping of the swan with golden feathers; help Somerville ride to Jedburgh to take on the Linton Worm with a handful of peat; and meet the Three Sillies who were out-silly-ed by three more!
Stories are free, last 30 minutes, and take place at 10,30am, 11.30am, 1pm and 2pm.
This event is part of the Avalon Marshes Peat-Fest Open Day taking place at the Avalon Marshes Centre. This celebration of our unique boggy landscapes takes places 10am-4pm with hands-on activities, stalls, and art installations including the incredible Mossy Carpet.

This event is part of Peat-Fest South-West, a region-wide celebration of our connections with peatlands, running through summer and autumn 2025. Led by the Art and Energy Collective and supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, it brings together youth groups, artists, heritage organisations and volunteers to raise awareness of peatland heritage through creative events, intergenerational exchanges, and storytelling.
