About the event

The Empty Chair, a psychodrama session
Explore your infant feeding journey in this session led by Psychodrama psychotherapist Leila Frondigoun

About this Event

The Empty Chair is a psychodrama-based session exploring the ‘Comfort & Disturb’ of breastfeeding. This was developed as part of Feed, an arts-based project that promotes inclusive, sustainable approaches to infant feeding and public space. Led by Leila Frondigoun, Psychodrama Psychotherapist, the session will invite participants to take on different roles. Starting with the role of the feeding chair itself, together participants will explore their own breast/chest/infant feeding journey, its challenges, the comfort it brought to baby and feeder, as well as any disturb associated, either for themselves, their families or society as a whole.

This workshop is aimed at caregivers with experience of breast/chest/infant feeding. The session will be interactive, but there is no pressure for participants to share anything, unless they feel comfortable to. It is free but booking is compulsory. The workshop will be held in GoMA’s top floor Studio, which is fully accessible. Babies and toddlers are also welcome, but please specify if they will be with you at the moment of booking.

What is Psychodrama?

Psychodrama is an embodied, integrative psychotherapy which uses creativity to bring our internal worlds out, and to allow us to understand how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours interact and affect each other. It can help us understand how our past experiences have shaped our present, and how we can use this knowledge to create a different future for ourselves. It can be used in both one-to-one settings and groups to facilitate insight and integration, catharsis, and personal growth. It is a powerful way of working as it engages our mind, body, and spirit.
