Welcome to the event 'New Technologies in Wildlife Conservation'!
We are in the midst of two environmental crises: climate change gets a lot of attention, but wildlife declines are equally serious. The Glasgow Natural History Society and the Royal Society of Biology have joined forces to investigate how new technologies can help reverse declines in wildlife populations.
Come to the Kelvin Hall lecture theatre on Tuesday 14th October from 7pm to hear two talks:
Jo Howard-McCombe of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland’s Wildgenes team will discuss the role of modern genetics in conservation of the Scottish wildcat (which is threatened by breeding with escaped domestic cats).
Neil Harris of the National Biodiversity Network will show how new data management technologies can help us understand how wildlife populations are changing.
This event is free to all, and attendees are encouraged to ask questions of the speakers.
