Join us for Holmwood Gather & Gab! We’re excited to launch a brand-new series of relaxed community meet-ups at Holmwood! Join us on the first and third Thursday of each month at 11:30 AM in our overflow café for a friendly chat over coffee.
Each session explores a fascinating topic related to Holmwood House, from the lives of its servants to the influence of Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson on Glasgow’s architecture. It’s a great opportunity to meet people from your local community while learning more about Holmwood, Thomson’s legacy, and the work of our charity to preserve this Southside gem!

July 17 – The Lost Panels of the Idylls of the King-
Step back into the romantic world of Arthurian legend as we delve into one of Holmwood House’s most intriguing mysteries — the lost decorative panels once displayed in the drawing room, inspired by Alfred Lord Tennyson’s Idylls of the King.
What did these panels look like? Why were they chosen? And where might they have gone?In this session, we’ll piece together clues from Holmwood’s past, explore Thomson’s fascination with myth and poetry, and consider how Victorian ideals of heroism and beauty shaped the home’s design.
Whether you’re a fan of the Arthurian tales or simply curious about Holmwood’s hidden histories, come join the conversation!
