Hello!
The votes for our next detstringing patrol came in close, but Thursday 10th won in the end!
This will be an important patrol (aren't they all, you say?!), and probably slightly wet! We'll be joined by Marc Horne, senior reporter from the Times......plus return visitor, Zoe MW, the illustrator who's completing her Masters at Glasgow School of Art. Zoe's back for a second patrol, to enable her to fill in any gaps in her final submission. Mark has asked to see us in action, and interview volunteers about how and why we got involved in Happy Feet destringing group. This should all translate into a planned feature article in the Times - and who knows.....maybe even with some of Zoe's illustrations!
I'm giving us all the challenge of getting both Zoe and Marc catching and destringing by the end of their visit..... once they've finished "the day job", and only if they want to, of course!
Please could everyone who's coming along sign up as "going" on the event. We need to know this information, to make sure we have a workable mix of experienced, and new people. Also, try to bring a supply of food to draw the pigeons to us! Types of food that work well are: dried lentils, scotch-broth mix, garden bird seed, unsalted peanuts (a favourite!), sunflower hearts, and dried rice.
Please also bring your own supply of hand sanitiser, if you plan to be handling the birds.
The experienced folk will be able to lend their simple tools and equipment, so don't worry about this. We all use a variety of tools and techniques, so you'll get a chance to try things out, and decide what works best for you!
If you have any questions/suggestions etc, just drop them in the chat or in a dm to me, if you prefer.
THANK YOU X
