Please join the Gettysburg Independent Blues, 2nd Military District, Sons of Veterans Reserve as they honor Colonel Charles Henry Buehler, the pre-war, and early Civil War Era Commander of the Gettysburg Independent Blues (Company E, 2nd PVI Regiment).

Born on February 9th 1825 and died on March 24 1896, Buehler was a life-long resident of Gettysburg, a long standing member of the Pennsylvania Militia, and the pre-War and early-War Commander of Gettysburg’s hometown militia, the Independent Blues. Buehler would raise through the ranks becoming the Major of the 87th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment, and eventually the Colonel and Commander of the 165th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment (the “drafted militia”).
