All bodies are good bodies – and we’re inviting folks in fat, plus size, chubby, thick, plump, & bountiful bodies to get together for our new monthly hiking series! This event will be hosted by Tianna (they/them), Program Manager at the Ottawa Outdoor Gear Library (OOGL).
The trail we'll be enjoying is called Boucher Forest Loop. This is a 5.0km loop trail that takes an estimated 66 minutes to complete. You can review the route here.
To reach the specific trailhead where we'll begin our hike, use the following coordinates in your GPS: 45.41776, -75.83901
The trail is mostly flat dirt and/or wood chips. There are some sections of ramped boardwalk. Anticipate slight inclines/decline and light debris on trails (i.e., roots, fallen twigs, small rocks).
There are no known bathrooms available on-site.
This hiking trail is transit accessible via the following STO routes: 40; 50; 52; 550; 640; 740.
Parking is available for free on-site, but limited.
The Ottawa Outdoor Gear Library is dedicated to providing equitable access to nature-based experiences, land-based programming, and outdoor recreation.
We aim to serve people living with low incomes, racialized communities, 2SLGBTQ+ people, newcomers, youth, and anyone else who experiences barriers to outdoor activity.
We operate on the principle that systemic barriers should not prevent access to outdoor play and activity. Everyone deserves to enjoy the physical and mental health benefits of outdoor recreation.
No one who wishes to borrow gear will be turned away, however we encourage folks who have the financial resources to support a small business via gear rental to do so. Alternatively, you can donate to our organization when borrowing gear if you have the means.
