Join us for the 2025 Legacy Breakfast, hosted by Mental Health America of Northwest Indiana. This event is our annual commitment to presenting important trends and topics related to mental health and wellness to our Northwest Indiana community.
Join us this year as we welcome Holistic Life Foundation founders and authors Ali Atman and Andrés González to Northwest Indiana.
The Holistic Life Foundation, a BIPOC-led nonprofit based in Baltimore, Maryland, is dedicated to enhancing the social, educational, emotional, and environmental well-being of underserved communities. Through yoga, mindfulness, and health initiatives, they empower individuals and families, emphasizing the vital connection between people and their environment.
Founded by Ali Smith, Atman Smith, and Andres Gonzalez in 2001, the Holistic Life Foundation has served over 200,000 students and adults in more than 100 schools and communities nationwide, providing over 50,000 hours of training. Today, HLF serves over 5,000 Baltimore City Public School students weekly, aiming to improve social, educational, and emotional outcomes through yoga, mindfulness, and health programs. Here in Northwest Indiana, HLF supports Gary Community Schools through the Indiana Department of Education Bipartisan Safer Communities Act: Stronger Connections Grant.
HLF's socio-emotional behavioral curriculum helps youth and young adults develop inner strength through yoga, mindfulness, conflict resolution, teamwork, restorative practices, and self-care, fostering a love for learning and community. Their high-quality, evidence-based programs are facilitated in diverse settings such as schools, detention centers, drug treatment centers, mental health facilities, recreation centers, group homes, colleges, senior centers, and wellness centers nationwide.
Holistic Life Foundation's comprehensive programs enhance the well-being of entire communities, earning local, national, and international recognition. Their innovative work has been featured in major media outlets, including Good Morning America, NBC Nightly News, CNN, CBS, to name a few. They have also appeared in The Washington Post, Upworthy, and Congressman Tim Ryan's book, A Mindful Nation. Additionally, they have been highlighted in Steven Spielberg's Discovery Channel series, 'Why We Hate,' and named Game Changers by Baltimore Magazine in 2024.
We are honored to host keynote speakers Ali Smith and Andres Gonzales as they share their expertise with us, with thanks to our Keynote Presenting Sponsor: Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana and the support of the Gary Community Schools.
