Friends, the time is right (ripe?) to collect seeds from Canada wild rye - a great understory erosional control grass - and this Sunday, 8a.m. We'll be at Halff Park (the east end of the Preserve, 4695 Ranger Drive (just east of Naaman Forest HS) doing just that. This is the area of severe destruction and we hope to use these seeds for habitat restoration in this area in the future.
If you can join, wear long pants and long sleeves, study shoes that can get muddy, and bring water and maybe some hand clippers. I'll have lots of paper bags and bug spray. This activity counts as volunteer hours for Master Naturalists., and karmic good-deed credit for everyone. If you'd like to help collect seeds but aren't available at this time, I'm glad to meet separately and get you started.
Questions? Comments? You know where I am - and I hope to see you all soon. Have a great day.
