CRUX LGBTQ Climbing - Anchor Building Basics

WHO WE ARE

CRUX Climbing is dedicated to expanding access to the sport of rock climbing and outdoor recreation for LGBTQIA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, and asexual) communities in the NY-metropolitan area.

SET UP CLIMBING ANCHORS OUTSIDE!

One of the major parts of safety in climbing is the anchor. We top rope on it, descend from it, and--in the case of multi-pitch--hang from it while belaying. Learn how to build SERENE anchors: from setting simple sport anchors on bolts to evaluating and using natural objects with static line and slings. This course is being offered in partnership with our friends at Rise Outside Collective and will be taught by certified guides. The price includes the introductory lessons, and use of their technical gear.

This class is designed for people with experience top rope climbing and top rope belaying.

YOU PROVIDE

The class fee includes a day pass climbing permit at Peterskill. In addition to this, you are also responsible for:

• the Eventbrite processing fee
• transportation to/from Peterskill - a rideshare sheet will be available to facilitate carpooling from NYC
• appropriate clothing for the day, rain or shine
• water
• lunch and snacks
• tip for course instructors (not required, but encouraged)

This class must have 8 participants to run. If we don't have 8 people registered by Monday, June 30th, we might cancel or reschedule.

🚨REFUNDS

CRUX would be stuck making up the difference if we had fewer than 8 participants. For this reason, there are NO REFUNDS unless the class is cancelled. If you can no longer make it, we can contact folks on the waitlist to try to help you find someone to take your spot, but you will not receive a refund until your spot is taken by someone else.

If either Rise Outside or CRUX decide to cancel the class, you will receive a full refund.
