The Iron will travel to face former record breaking manager Russ Wilcox's Gainsborough Trinity side in pre-season, with the encounter taking place at the Northolme on Saturday, July 19th (1pm kick-off).
The match will signal the midpoint of pre-season for Scunthorpe, with only a matter of weeks to go for both sides ahead of the new campaign. Northern Premier League Premier Division side, the Holy Blues, finished seventh last season, surging up the league in the latter months of the campaign as they recovered from a number of games in hand due to their massively successful runs in FA competitions.
United faced the side at the KAL Group Stadium twice in the 2023-24 season, first running out 6-0 victors in pre-season following goals from Jason Law, Michael Kelly, Cameron Wilson (two), Danny Elliott (penalty) and Danny Whitehall before advancing to the semi-final of the Lincolnshire Senior Cup following a 7-2 win in December 2023. Goals on the night came from Elliott (four), Butler, Wilson (penalty) and Poulter against the Northern Premier League Premier Division side.
Last season, the two sides only locked horns in pre-season, with the Iron edging out a valiant Trinity outfit, winning 5-3. United were 2-0 down before Andrew Boyce halved the deficit just before half-time, with Max Kouogun equalising even closer to the interval as Andy Butler's side shook off the host's lead.
Danny Whitehall put the Iron ahead for the first time after half-time, before former player Lewis Butroid equalised for the Holy Blues. Carlton Ubaezuonu and Max Brogan would score the goals to seal the win for the away side.
