May Herbal Medicine Making: Wild Rose Remedies & a Salve Sample

Join us at the Green Farmacy this month to explore the possibilities with roses! We will be harvesting wild rose, (Rosa multiflora), together to brew wild rose hydrosol & water to share. While that is simmering, we will learn how to create a nourishing salve from an herbal infused oil to share samples.

We'll meet at the patio picinc table for fresh tisane (herbal tea) & introductions at 11am. Then we'll wander into the garden & field to meet the different rose species on the land. We'll discuss identification & growing tips, medicinal & nutritional components, and best harvesting & preparation practices. Please bring 3 small jars (ideally glass or metal, though heat-safe plastic will do) for your samples - one for rose water, one for rose hydrosol, and one for salve.

What to bring:

A notebook and writing utensil if you use them.

If you have them, a harvest basket or bag to collect our wild roses

Potted seedlings and divisions are available for donation at all our public events, as well as seeds and printed or recorded publications from Jim and Peggy Duke.

The Green Farmacy Garden accepts donations of glass jars with lids, particularly interested in pint size or smaller jars.
