Class description:
In this 6-session class, ceramic artist and instructor Tom Thomas will teach his signature Gargoyles class. Your creatures will come to life as you are guided through hand-building techniques that are accessible to both beginners and advanced ceramists.
Gargoyles are sculptures inhabiting the rooflines of buildings. Functionally, they served as drainpipes to direct rainwater from the building’s foundation. Using the basic hand-building skills of slab construction, pinching, and coiling, participants make a gargoyle or dragon. All skill levels welcome.
Weekly classes include:
3 hours of instructional time per week
Clay and firings.
Tools and materials. Please bring your own apron or wear clothes you don’t mind getting muddy.
Extra clay is available through the studio.
Open to anyone 18 or older.
There are no refunds on 6-week classes.
