The Bird Choir
The Bird Choir is a collaboration between composer Sandra Boss and ceramist Katrine Würtz. The work consists of 20+ handmade ceramic water bird flutes. The birds are filled with water and played automatically through a MIDI-controlled air blower system. The result is an apocalyptic choir of birds where whistles, calls and screams with each other in a tuneless lament.
The work is inspired by the bird migration that exists near the coast lines of Denmark. These years, new bird species arrive, while others disappear completely, because of the climate changes. Who are these new birds? How do they sound and what do they want to tell us?
Katrine Würtz
Katrine Würtz is a visual artist who works sculpturally with different media and materials. Her work alternates between craftsmanship and playful, painterly and sculptural intuitive processes. She also works exploratively with the ceramic medium under the name WAS.
Sandra Boss
Sandra Boss is a Danish-based composer and performer working within the field of instrumental music, electronics, installation and performance. She explores the overheard sounds of diverse sound sources both familiar musical instruments but also instruments that were not originally intended for music making.
Mike Sheridan
Mike Sheridan has been a part of the Copenhagen electronic music scene since the mid 00’s. He entered the scene, barely in his teens, with his landmark debut album I Syv Sind (In Two Minds, 2008). Sheridan traced an ambient and dreamy approach, and with limited tools at hand, he constructed a teenage masterwork that few could have predicted. Among the first in his generation, Mike Sheridan launched his career to high acclaim, effectively crossing over to mainstream audiences.
Thanks to To Øl for the drinks and to Kristine Bech for the co-curating.
