About the event

Robin Greenfield & Eric Joseph Lotus Wild Edibles Walk
For one year Robin Greenfield is foraging for every bite of his food and medicine. A year without grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacies or even a garden. “Nature” is his garden!

Join Robin and Eric Joseph Lotus for a Foraging Walk to learn the food and medicine growing abundantly all around us! All are welcome, no matter the experience level and all events are FREE! No RSVP is needed.

Frederick Municipal Forest 3:00 - 6:00 PM
We will meet at the Hamburg Road parking lot near Gambrill Park Road. Here's the address for navigation purposes:

Food and medicine are growing all around us, and learning to recognize plants and mushrooms can be easier than we imagine. In this walk and talk we will explore:

-the simplest strategies for getting to know plants
-how to correctly identify plants and mushrooms and how to rule out poisonous look alikes
-the top wild staple foods in the area
-how to gather enough calories in a day to last a month
-how to harvest sustainably and promote wild edibles with guerrilla planting tactics

Bring a friend or three, snacks to share, and note taking materials if they help you to learn. Audio and video recording is allowed and encouraged (check in with the group to make sure everyone else consents to being audio and video recorded) especially if the content will be shared online.

Donations for the Community Fruit trees project are appreciated but not required.

Give what you can.
Receive what you need.
Be good family, always... in all ways.

More information about Robin's tour:

Is it possible to eat in harmony with Earth and live in reciprocity? Robin wholeheartedly believes so and is putting this love and devotion for Earth into bold action as he harvests the food and medicine growing freely and abundantly all around us.

He is traveling to our land to share his foraging journey and celebrate the work we are doing to create a more resilient, local food system. He will also share about the newly launched 1 Million Community Fruit Trees Initiative and invite us to get involved in this grassroots collaborative effort in food sovereignty.

While many of us are in great despair over the decisions of our current administration, this is a call to bold action. Now is the time to embrace community, build local resiliency, grow our relationships and develop our skills. This is a call to healing our relationship with Earth and the land around us through a relationship with the plants.
