Restore habitat for rare species!
Mainspring, NC Department of Natural Resources, and Tangled Bank Conservation invite outdoorspeople, nature lovers, and anyone without Friday plans to this special afternoon workday. During this volunteer event, we will be removing unwanted vegetation from a sensitive marsh to improve habitat for the unique plants and animals that live here. This property is a privately owned conservation easement and not usually open to the public, so this is also an opportunity to explore a secret spot with scientists, researchers, and naturalists.
This workday will occur in Macon County from 1:00pm-4:00pm on Friday, March 6th. Due to the sensitive nature of the marsh, the exact meeting location will only be shared with those who register for the event. Please wear pants, long sleeves, and sturdy, waterproof shoes- we suggest muck boots. Also bring plenty of water and work gloves if you have them, but we will have extras for those without their own. Tools and snacks will be provided.
This event is weather-dependent. Please leave pets at home. Email Skye at
