Shavuot Together: An Evening of Learning & Celebration

Join the North Peninsula Jewish Collaboration for a festive evening of Jewish learning with clergy and teachers from across the community! A special emphasis will be given to the theme of mental health and wellness from a Jewish perspective.

Light dairy appetizers as well as cheesecake provided.

5:00–5:30 PM – Opening Appetizer Reception in the Garden

5:30–6:30 PM – Sessions Block 1

Choice 1: The Torah Was Given in the Desert: Making Space for Mental Stillness
A look at how emotional spaciousness and non-productivity are essential to receiving wisdom. With Rabbi Moshe Heyn.

Choice 2: You Are Not Alone: Rabbi Yochanan and the Power of Compassionate Presence

Engage with rabbinic stories, particularly the famous tale of Rabbi Yochanan and his healer, to explore how Jewish tradition uses compassion, community, touch, and presence to heal emotional and physical pain. With Rabbi Lisa Kingston.

Choice 3: What is Tikkun? (Note - this session offered in Hebrew )

We often speak today of Tikkun Leil Shavuot or Tikkun Olam, but have we paused to consider what Tikkun is? Where does it first appear in our texts, and in what context? What are the roots and meanings of the Shavuot night Tikkun tradition?

Choice 1: Psalms: Offering Comfort and Expressing Our Fears
Explore the healing power of Psalms as both a source of comfort and a channel for expressing our deepest fears. This session will focus on select Psalms that speak to human vulnerability and divine connection. With Rabbi Elana Zelony.

Choice 2: The Book of Ruth: Hope and Despair at the Edge of a New Beginning

A deep dive into the Book of Ruth, exploring themes of grief, loyalty, and quiet acts of kindness that transform pain into redemption and hope. With Rabbi Julia Berg.

Choice 1: Musical Healing Service
A gentle, comforting musical space of prayer, poetry, song and blessing. With Cantor Elana Jagoda Kaye.

Choice 2: Guided Jewish Meditation
A meditative journey with breath, visualization, and grounding prompts for inner calm and emotional healing. With Saul Kaye.
