Proudly hailing from North Carolina, Parmalee meshes bluegrass, traditional country, rock, and blues into a crisp and professional, country-rock sound. This multi-talented group can also flex their Southern swagger when dipping their toes into pop and hip-hop sounds. Matt Thomas anchors vocals while his brother Scott Thomas keeps the beat on drums. Barry Knox rounds out the rhythm section on bass, and Josh McSwain is the guitar master. Their songs deal with familiar themes of love, hometown loyalty, and good times in tunes that have a big heartland sound and memorable choruses. Their 2013 breakout hit Feels Like Carolina brought hit single like “Carolina,” “Close Your Eyes,” and “Already Callin’ You Mine.” A dozen years, five No. 1 hits, and a billion streams later, and Parmalee is just beginning to show us what they’re capable of on their country music odyssey, experimenting with eclectic styles ranging from your traditional acoustic sounds to the ultra-contemporary.
