Join Wood Buffalo Pride, Nistawoyou Association Friendship Centre and special guest Bill Stearman for a FREE quilt making workshop. The goal with this workshop is for everyone to have fun while working together in creating a 'True Colours' quilt top that can be turned into a quilt to donate in support of 2SLGBTQIA+ folks locally!
In this workshop, we'll look at the patterns available from the Canadian Quilters’ Association’s 'True Colours Quilt Along' in support of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Copies of the patterns will be provided to use.
Sewing machines, thread, and some fabric will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine and notions if you prefer! Each participant will get one fat quarter of Northcott ColorWorks Premium Solid fabric to share, but we also encourage folks to raid their scrap bins and bring more if they'd like. The fabric that Bill will bring has been generously donated by Northcott Fabrics Canada.
Since this is an inclusive event, kits for basic quilt blocks will be available for new or inexperienced quilters.
For experienced quilters, here’s what to bring:
The things that you will need to sew a quilt block (or two or three) -what you might bring for a normal 'Sew Day' - this can include your own sewing machine and notions if you prefer, however we will have sewing machines available for all participants to use.
Extra fabric if you wish, in a rainbow of colours, to augment the ColorWorks solids you'll be given
A positive attitude, a willingness to help others who might be struggling with a pattern, and a commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for everyone, particularly the 2SLGBTQ+ community
Spots are limited and registration is required!
