Join the Northern Colorado Bird Alliance for our Annual combined event: the Holiday Potluck Dinner, Photo Sharing Meeting, and Book & Art Sale! This is our biggest social gathering of the year, and all are welcome—you do not need to be a member to attend.
This month we are combining our annual fundraiser with our annual potluck and member slideshow. Come early (6:30) for our fundraiser and do a little holiday shopping for gently used books/art/etc. Local bird guide Nick Komar will be available to sell signed copies of his new book, The Biggest Year in American Birding: A Quest to Find 900 Birds in the USA and Its Territories. **Please bring cash as we cannot accept other forms of payment.**
The book sale will run simultaneously with our potluck and slideshow. For the potluck, please bring a dish to share with a serving utensil and your own place setting. We will provide beverages and cups. Setup time will begin at 6:30 p.m. and food will be available to enjoy beginning at 6:45.
For the slideshow, members can bring some of their favorite wildlife photos from 2025 on a USB memory device. Please plan to limit your presentation to 10 minutes or less, and just one presenter per household. If you will be sharing slides, please notify John Shenot in advance:

Inspiration and Record-Breaking Birding!
We are thrilled to welcome former Colorado Field Ornithologists president and lifelong birder Nicholas Komar, who will be joining us for a special book signing of his new book, The Biggest Year in American Birding: A Quest to Find 900 Birds in the USA and Its Territories
Nicholas Komar’s book chronicles his incredible year-long effort to set a new world record for finding the most bird species in a single year across the USA and its Territories. His odyssey took him from Alaska’s Aleutians and the volcanos of Hawaii to the Florida Everglades, facing immense challenges—including managing young-onset Parkinson’s Disease and spending parts of 17 days at sea despite a fear of the ocean.
Come hear about Nicholas's mammoth effort, his close calls, and the profound personal connections he made during his journey. His story is not only a must-read for anyone considering a "Big Year" but also an inspiration for following your dreams despite affliction. Be sure to bring your copy, or purchase one at the event, to have it signed by the author!
We can't wait to celebrate the season with you and share in this incredible evening of food, fun, awe and inspiration!
