Travel 200 years back in time and experience history on the Great Plains at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park!
Ongoing demonstrations featuring military and civilian life of the 1820s will occur throughout the park. Reenactors will portray fur traders, coopers, blacksmiths, carpenters, tinsmiths, weavers and other period trades outside of the fort walls. Other ongoing activities will include carpentry/log hewing at the southeast barrack. Visitors are encouraged to interact with the reenactors.

Agenda
10 a.m. – The Troop: roll call, inspection, raise colors & morning gun
10:45 a.m. – Church call (Sunday only at the north barrack)
11 a.m. – Archaeology walk at the flag pole
Noon – Assembly, noon gun
12:05 p.m. – Dinner call (peas upon a trencher)
12:30 p.m. – Mountain man interactive activity at the cabin
1 p.m. – Jeff Barnes of Humanities Nebraska presents, “Forts of the Missouri River Valley” at the Visitor Center
2 p.m. – Cannon drill and firing (powder magazine)
3 p.m. – Presentation on the 1825 expedition at the southwest barrack
4 p.m. – The Retreat: roll call, inspection & evening gun
A valid Nebraska Park Entry Permit is required for all vehicles to enter the park and can be purchased at the site.
