About the event

Gardening for Stormwater: Rain Gardens & Beyond
Rain, rain, go away? We say let it stay! ️ Join FW Water Conservation for our next FREE Water Saving Seminar: Gardening for Stormwater!

About this Event

Don’t let stormwater go down the drain—put it to work in your landscape! Gardening for Stormwater is happening on Thursday, April 10th, from 6 to 8 p.m., brought to you by the City of Fort Worth Water Department and Tarrant Regional Water District.

When it rains, it pours—but with the right plants, your landscape can soak it up in style! Join Master Gardener Heather Bass from TRWD as she explains how to reduce flooding and protect your local rivers using your home landscape. If your yard experiences drainage or flooding issues, gardening for stormwater might be the perfect solution—creating an attractive space that offers benefits beyond mere water control.

In this free class, you’ll learn about:

  • The benefits of gardening for stormwater
  • Rain gardens, bioswales, dry creek beds, and more
  • Integrating rain gardens, bioswales, and retention ponds into your landscape
  • How to choose the right plants
  • Long-term maintenance for your stormwater garden

Can’t make it in person? No worries—Gardening for Stormwater will be live-streamed on our Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/fortworthwater/.

The event will take place inside the beautiful Botanic Research Institute of Texas building at the north end of the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens main parking lot. Parking is free! We recommend arriving 15 minutes early and bringing any personal supplies—like snacks, drinks, or a notebook—to make the seminar even more enjoyable. Fun water and gardening trivia, plus wonderful giveaways for all attendees, will begin 10 minutes before the class starts.

Don’t let this opportunity wash away! Enjoy water and gardening trivia, plus fantastic giveaways starting 10 minutes before class.
