Sunrise Run to Clingmans Dome MSSD 2024

We’re bringing back the Sunrise Run to Clingmans Dome! We’ve done this run as an end to MOTD/MSSD for several years and we are happy to do it again for 2025. This run includes some incredible views and picture opportunities.

We will be meeting at the Fontana Village General Store at 6:00 am. After a quick driver's meeting, we will head out at 6:35 am and head over the Dragon and stop at an overlook to see the sun rise over the Great Smokey Mountains. Sunrise is at 07:36 AM, so we should have enough time to park and take some pics. After that, we will head to IGA in Townsend, TN for breakfast and gassing up. After our stop here, we will continue to Clingmans Dome for some amazing views (depending on fog conditions, the views are incredible!). After that, we will head home.

This is a moderate/spirited run out of Fontana and over the Dragon and will partly be in the dark. I will reduce speeds depending on conditions to make sure everyone is safe. The rest of the run is considered easy.
