A deep dive into the roots of Soul Slide(Line Dance)using the Ghanian principle of Sankofa, "taking from the past what is good & bringing it into the future." This workshop with Lynn Bryant will be followed by Chicago Step & an evening performance. 20 max attendees.

Out of Towners: Hotels are located right off the I-95 exit 160 or I-20 at exit 141. There is a mall, Target, Barnes and Nobles, and restaurants. This area is 10-15 minutes from the venue. There are many hotels in the area.

About the Instructor:
Lynn Bryant enjoyed serving as a reading specialist and composition writing teacher for over 30 years with Beaufort County Schools. She taught all grade levels, from elementary to adult education, and even worked as an adjunct professor.
Her proudest accomplishment was the publication of her autobiography, “I’m Black and I’m Proud,” wished the white girl which shares the joy and challenges of growing up in a multi-cultural family and Gullah community during days of segregation. One of her many joys while attending St. Helena High was being a majorette in an all-black school. This is when she fell in love with soul music and learned to dance on beat.
Later in life, Lynn discovered Urban Line Dance and became an instructor. The mission of her dance group is to bring people of all ages and backgrounds together to enjoy the unifying power of dance. “Family Slide Dancers” was founded in 2010 with a group of teachers at St. Helena Elementary.
Lynn has been married to Wilbert Bryant for 43 years; and they have a daughter, two sons, eight grandchildren, and a great granddaughter. Her pastimes include endless dancing, hosting family gatherings, volunteering at Penn Center’s York W. Bailey Museum, and walking the beach
