About the event

Flagstaff Dark Sky Speaker Series - A Cultural Interpretation of Hopi Astronomy
* At the old Lowell Steele Visitor's Center *
>>> Drive through the Lowell gate at the top of Mars Hill, and then when the road turns left to the new Astronomy Discovery Center, go straight past the sawhorse in the road to the old Steele Visitor's Center <<<

Throughout history, humans have observed the seasonal changes of the sky and established different cultural responses. In this presentation, cultural and archaeoastronomer Bryan Bates will explore how the Hopi have documented Sun and Moon movements to inform their survival and ceremonial events.
