Featuring Brian Melvin
A native of San Francisco now based in Estonia, Brian Melvin is a percussionist with a legendary résumé. He recorded five albums with bass icon Jaco Pastorius, including Standards Zone, and led the fusion project Nightfood featuring Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead.
His credits include collaborations with Joe Henderson, Mike Stern, John Scofield, Michael Brecker, Joe Lovano, and many more. He co-leads Beatlejazz with Grammy-winning pianist David Kikoski, and his group FOG features Jeff Chimenti of Dead & Company.
With roots in the heart of the Bay Area’s improvisational tradition, Brian brings a powerful, authentic voice to the music of the Dead and beyond.
