Mixed media refers to the combination of different materials and techniques to create a single artwork. This can range from simple combinations like drawing and painting, to more complex integrations of various techniques and materials. The use of mixed media allows artists to explore a broader range of possibilities and create unique and diverse works of art.

About the Instructor

Sherry Chanin has been a practicing artist and instructor for over 30 years focusing on watercolour as well as acrylic painting. Her work has been exhibited in Canada, Europe as well as the USA. Nature is often the source of inspiration with a focus on patterns and textures, and she frequently combines flat patterns designed background with realistic subject matter in the foreground. Other sources of inspiration includes Celtic knots, Japanese prints, Medieval manuscripts, calligraphy and Art Nouveau and Art Deco designs.
