Torchworking Demonstration with ECU GlasStation

JOIN US JUNE 10TH AT 10AM FOR A TORCHWORKING DEMONSTRATION!

Torchworking, also called Flameworking or Lampworking, is a process of working glass where the artisan manipulates the glass in a bench mounted torch. The process has predominantly been used to create glass devices for scientific or industrial purposes, but has also been adopted by crafts people and artists. In this demonstration Mike Tracy will show off the process by making a simple vessel while talking about the contemporary history of glass art.

Mike Tracy runs East Carolina University's GlasStation located on Wilson St in Farmville. The GlasStation is part of the School of Art and Design and is an off-campus classroom for students to learn about glass art with a primary focus on furnace blown glass. In addition to the college classes, the GlasStation also offers Make-Your-Own workshops and free monthly demonstrations to the public.
