Penny Come Quick pub set

Here's us singing in March at local pub The Pheasant, St Newlyn East. Row me Bully Boys isn't a traditional shanty but is a lot of fun to sing!

'Bully Boys' refers to all the grafters on board, chewing beef jerky to keep themselves going.

'Plating the captain aboard' is the tradition of piping the captain aboard with a whistle, more usually wielded by the boatswain, or bo'sun, a senior deckhand. Boats weren't often rowed as it would have been incredibly hard work and even when slaves were on board as crew and set to the oars, it was work kept to an absolute minimum.

Catch our set Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival at the Penny Come Quick pub on the Moor on June 14th at 5pm. The odd snippet of history chucked in alongside some singing!
