About the event

Annual Meeting
Join members of HFCI at our annual meeting and program. You do not have to be an HFCI member to attend, but we hope you will join!

Our guest speaker is Dr. Missy Cummings, Professor and Director of GMU’s new Mason Autonomy and Robotics Center.

The Promises and Perils of AI

While AI can show up in many everyday applications from shopping to management of home automation, it is the application of AI in safety-critical systems like transportation and medicine that raises important questions about its capabilities. Prof. Cummings will discuss why AI is struggling to gain traction in safety-critical systems and what changes are needed to achieve positive outcomes.
