Birding the Wetlands: Discovering Residential Birds and Late Migrants

BCWA and Debbie Hayhurst of Wild Birds Unlimited, invite you to a morning birding expedition at Pearl’s Fen. We will focus on identifying late migratory birds and observing the behavior of local species, including foraging, nesting, and vocalizations. Binoculars are a must for optimal viewing.

We’ll be standing and walking, so please wear comfortable shoes or waterproof boots. Dress in layers, mornings can be chilly. A water bottle is recommended.

Hike length: ~2 miles. We will visit the wetland boardwalk and the wooded trail.

Debbie Hayhurst is a nature lover, with a particular fondness for birds. She started birding in 1977 in an ornithology class while attending Hocking Technical College. She later graduated from OSU obtaining a BS in Natural Resources-Environmental Education. She currently works part time for Wild Birds Unlimited.
