About the event

Women's Work, 1602
Find out why a woman’s work was never done. On Sunday 26 October the History Reenactment Workshop will bring St Nicholas Priory to life as it would have been in c.1600. Using new research by Professor Jane Whittle and her team at the University of Exeter that reveals evidence of the history of women’s work in unprecedented detail and coverage, they will engage in everyday work activities. Just drop in and have a chat with them to find out more about our historical working lives. There will also be a treasure hunt quiz. An exhibition about the history of women’s work illustrated with art from the period will be on display from 19 Oct-10 Nov. These events are free to attend, no booking required.
