Open Evening on Saturday 11th October from 6.00pm Come and meet Nic and enjoy a glass of wine whilst viewing a brand new collection of Nic's unique semiabstract seascapes
Artist
Nic George
Nic moved to Exmouth in 1987 to study art and education at the Rolle College.
Art has always has always been central to Nic’s life, both personally and professionally, even during his formative years growing up in the village of Cilfrew, in the South Wales valleys where he was influenced by his grandparents (one an inventor and another an antique dealer)plus his aunt who was a professional artist.
The work in the exhibition is inspired by Nic’s passion for living by the sea where he takes inspiration from his daily walks down to the beach with Betty, his lurcher and being an avid windsurfer especially on more blustery days when the seascape is more dramatic.
Nic’s paintings capture the movement and tension of the seascape with a mixture of form, colour and composition which he aligns in an imaginative response.
Alongside his work as an artist, Nic runs his art consultancy which trains both the present and future generation of primary teachers to teach art to young people. He also runs a range of events and projects to support schools plus communities to promote a love and understanding of art. He also works with the South West Academy (SWAc) as their art consultant for school linked projects
Nic’s exhibition is an accumulation of work from the past few years ranging from monochrome to very recent abstract seascapes with bolder forms and colours. The titles of his work are taken from the poems of Dylan Thomas who has always been one of Nic’s heroes and creative inspirations.
