About the event

Dewey Decibels with Technicolour Steam Train
It's time to shake the shelves again... Dewey Decibels is back! A night of new and eclectic music at Exeter Library with some incredible acts, guaranteed to get you dancing. Featuring the lively 9-piece Ska-fusion sounds of Technicolour Steam Train alongside innovative alt-pop from Japan, Man, plus the seriously funky Sid Plus One. And more TBA. co-produced by Obvious Events.

TST
Technicolour Steam Train (TST) are a ska-fusion band who burst into the South West in 2022 with an array of soul-funk grooves, 2-tone roots and a hiphop multi-genre frontman Charlie Mulford as its conductor. As a nine piece, TST has an explosion of colour to offer making the point of being "seriously unserious" and are full steam ahead to continue the chaos.

It's Madness meets notorious B.I.G, we want to bring ska to a new generation, in a new light, and have the best time in doing so. Having met at university, we have members from Cornwall to South London which naturally fuse an unlikely set of characters together to create what is Technicolour Steam Train. Join Charlie Mulford as he brings you into his world of freestyle that cuts to your core with a big band energy to back him.

JAPAN, MAN
Fronted by Beirut based Laeticia Acra and drawing inspiration from artists like The Cardigans, Gorillaz, Radiohead, and King Krule, Japan, Man’s music traverses the boundaries of indie, alternative, and pop, to make a sound their own, characterised by enticing melodies, funk-infused basslines, and accomplished songwriting.

"anchoring in a sophisticated but playful blend of funk, soul, and bedroom pop, Acra’s songwriting evokes a kind of poignancy that’s way beyond her years" - ourculturemag.com

Sid Plus One

Consists of Jasmine Halsall, Sid Rai, Albert Addison and Ben Abbott. If you like sensual melodies with a funky jam pairing, you're in the right place. Rat King forever!!

"One of the hottest new bands in the Southwest" - expose
