The Minnesota Orchestra will return to the Excelsior Commons after a 13-year hiatus to perform a free outdoor concert on Tuesday, July 1, at 7:30 pm. This special performance, featuring a blend of classical and popular music, is part ofthe Orchestra’s annual Symphony for the Cities tour and is hosted locally by Fanfare for The Commons, a nonprofit organization dedicated to Minnesota Orchestra events atthe Excelsior Commons.
Festivities will begin at 5:00 PM, where attendees will be welcomed by Twin Cities musicians sharing short sets of choral and instrumental music. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, and enjoy an evening of food, drink, and music.
Coalition Restaurant will offer prepared snacks on-site for purchase, while Small Lot Wines & Spirits will sell a selectionof wine, beer, cider, non-alcoholic beverages, and bottled water. Boxed dinners will be available for attendees to pre-order from participating local restaurants, with pickup available at the event’s food tent. Fanfare for The Commons was formed as a 501c3 organization in July 2024, for the express purpose of revivinga treasured tradition in our historic Commons, that being the performance by the world-class Minnesota Orchestra.
