Join us in this community-led initiative to gratefully host the 2025 inaugural TransFest opened with a welcoming to park by Brianna Bear with respect to these indigenous lands.
TransFest is an intergenerational festival open to all: TwoSpirit, BIPOC-trans+, Non-Binary Trans, Gender Queer Intersex, Gender Fluid, Gender Diverse, Queer & Ally folks to uplift, celebrate, and be in community together. Equity and accessibility is important to us and this will be a free event for all with low income options & sliding scale availability for marketing.
The Transfest stage offers one of the most diverse displays of Trans talent in the greater regional district featuring incredible Trans performers, artists, speakers, poets, and dancers who elevate our understanding of Trans lives, finished with a DJ set around dusk til’ late on the grass.
We aim to spotlight local Trans-focused organizations, community groups, artists, small businesses, and services used by TwoSpirit, Trans, Gender Diverse(2STGD) communities to share about local programs, events, services, artwork, and opportunities to organize.
There will be a space allocated for a gender-affirming clothing swap & crafting station for easy-on-the-wallet shopping & activities, so bring the clothes you’ve stuffed in the back of your closet or those binders and bras you don’t use anymore!
As 2025 is our inaugural year, the success and sustainability of TransFest will be due entirely to the efforts of volunteers, small-dollar individual donors, businesses, and organizations. The Stage Performers Fees budget depends entirely on the Tabling Fair, Craft Market, and essential sponsors.
Precise location will be disclosed closer to August 16th and tactful protective measures will be provided through support by the City of Saanich. There are park bathrooms on ground & although no stairs, ground may be sloped or uneven in places regarding mobility assistance. TransFest is mask-encouraged but not enforced and we are aiming to create a mask-only area and a low-sensory area for those who need it. Please don't attend if you are feeling sick.
