This week - Joy is a Protest too

 Call me a bimbo if you will but I like being happy. That's it. No specific reason no cause just that. And for a community for which one of the core derivative words mean happiness I find it a matter of sadness that rather a lot of our communal gatherings are just the opposite. Spaces of sadness and difficulty and commiseration. And while sheer practicality has forced us to be so?

I've decided that the best form of protest is just being happy. That's it. Nothing more. Joy is a protest undeniable and I'd like us to do just that. Be joyous about being queer. And share it with everyone else.

Because joy is a protest too.

An open mic about queer stories. Simple as that honestly. Artists in ways of storytelling poetry comedy and songs always tell us about themselves the softness of their emotions in affection or just.. love? A constant. A space to feel accepted understood and related to.
