Rewilding Rites – a contemplation on the blood rites of womanhood
The honouring of the Blood Rites (menarche, awakening to sexuality, fertility and menopause) as rites of passage in the life cycle of women have been all but lost to us, we live in poverty of ceremony and ritual around these important transition times. Now in this time of great awakening many are seeking meaningful experiences and understanding of these pivotal times in their lives. This 5-day retreat is an opportunity for women aged 30+ to discover, honour and acknowledge the power of these transition times.
We will meet as the seasons emerge from the depth of winter bursting into Spring in October to experience the Rewilding Rites, a retreat of deep women’s work, rekindling a relationship with nature and the self. It is an opportunity to let go of the norms of everyday life, live simply and tune into the cycles of life big and small. Over the course of the program participants will be guided and supported to use and explore creative processes of healing and personal exploration; body work and authentic movement for physical connection; ritual to make meaning and be witnessed; rest and feasting to nourish the body and the soul; play and joy to ignite the spirit; connection to the land in the sandstone cliffs north of Sydney and an opportunity to create connections with-in a circle of women.
About us:
Johanna and Gigi bring their wisdom, skills and passion for nature and women’s work together to facilitate this retreat. In the midst of her Maga years, Johanna is the custodian of the Freedom Farm – a place of great natural beauty and peace. She is a creatrix and magic weaver, body worker, food forager, nature lover and a mistress of holding space.
Gigi is enjoying the fruits of a life well lived as she dances down the slope towards Cronedom. She has been working with women for 3 decades using yoga, transpersonal counselling and sitting in circle to support others through major life transitions with compassion and insight. She works with the mythical archetypes of both western and eastern philosophy to bring a richness of understanding to the ages and stages of the life cycle of women.
